So. Health care. Many different forms are needed, every country is a little different. What I would like, if you have the time, is to explain to me what health care entails in your country.

For example, in Australia, if I have an accident and need to seek medical treatment, I can enter the emergency department and not pay a cent for any treatment given at that time, including drugs, X-Rays and casts on broken limbs. If it is so severe that I need an ambulance, there is a cost involved (around the $150 mark, charged at a later date).

Health insurance is chosen and paid for by the individual, as is their level of cover. For example, I currently pay for ambulance and basic hospital. What this means is that if I need an ambulance, my health insurance will pay for the ride, not me. I can also choose, depending on availability, to have a private room at a public hospital if a longer stay is required. The basic hospital cover also covers some of or all the cost of medically required operations, such as the loop excision I had on some pre-cancerous cervical cells last year. I had to pay a small excess that was a tiny fraction of what the operation cost. If I had a higher level of cover, it would have covered the whole operation, and mum and dad's higher level of cover paid for all my brother and my dental work in our teens.

So, again, if you have a spare couple of minutes to let me know how these things work where you are, I'd be really thankful.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: GET A FUCKING PAP SMEAR. NOW! IT ONLY TOOK SIX MONTHS FOR MY CELLS TO GO FROM "OH, THEY LOOK A BIT IFFY" TO "YEAH, YOU'RE ABOUT ONE AND A HALF STEPS AWAY FROM CANCER"
